Solitude & Beauty - Tapes 1981-86 (Re-Upload + Graphics)


It 'difficult to talk about themselves. This might seem like fanatics if they speak well of what has been done. You risk not being taken seriously if instead we are shown too small and tight-lipped. So I will try to speak simply and objectively (with detachment) of content and contexts. This CD brings together the "best" (or what I think it is) of what I consider to be the period most "interesting" of my musical journey. I was born as a singer, my voice as a child, was always linked to my need "music". I started composing in 1972, not because the author wanted to do, but because I wanted to "sing" songs that were not only famous ones that everyone can sing: I wanted to have all of the songs for me! And since it had no authority available to me since I was a nobody, I decided to roll up our sleeves and do it myself. Of course, it gradually took my hand and these songs that originally were meant only to make me sing, slowly became the casket, the catalyst of my emotions and my life deeper and more intimate, diary, the my life. My musical journey has followed so my psychological development and and my inner growth, evolving along with the music and as they changed my life. From the first pop of the years 1972-75, very close to progressive, I am moving to a close intimate Italian genre (but not too much) to singer-songwriters like Luciano Rossi, Umberto Balsamo, and feeling the strong influence of Baptists (with his style so little provincial, but failed to be an international artist), Cocciante, Venditti with everything that they could communicate with international music, because I've never been interested in Italian music to fossilize. I never liked me as a songwriter and I've never heard. I am a singer and these songs have been lifted from my consciousness, my sensitivity of my misery, my fantasy. In the late 70s, my life was greatly changed. As a young boy and a little closed 'autistic suck I had made from the ferment of the period, both from the political point of view, both from a musical standpoint. And even though I arrived a little 'later, I completely immersed in rock music, Patti Smith, Television, Clash, and going back to the Velvet Underground, Lou Reed and Nico, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin in particular. But in that same period was reborn Marianne Faithfull, and new myths were making progress, the Police and Sting great Talking Heads David Byrne. And I said just a few. In the early 80's I was ready to go for a new experience. There was a big jump, just in 1980, a large earthquake in my life. Until then I had recorded in a very traditional acoustic guitar and / or piano, and I had a few evenings with my repertoire. I was helping other people to write, my great and eternal friends Donatella Carracillo (between 1973 and 1976) and Francesca Romana Square (1978 onwards until the cd we did together in 1988, Perle-Nives). Now I was at a turning point and decided that my music had to change. From here the project which is discussed in this post. I bought a bass, a fabulous red electric guitar, a 60 Mustang, a drum machine, the Soundmaster. For three years I part of a dark-electronic trio called "Inner Nail" is completely dropped both in life and in music in that kind of music. From 1981 to 1986 I met so many people like me who lived in music. A submerged, invisible to large systems, who lived a great conviction, great motivation, and excitement. This period in Rome was quite visible as some groups Videozone and illogical, that I went to see concerts, good musicians in dark-new wave. I was totally out and I decided to know them and even win them to my projects. At the same time I met artists more or less abnormal, Luc François Granier, painter, and his friend, Jean Sylvain Brochu, between experimental and classical guitarist. I met Bruno De Angelis and Joanne Gulinelli, a duo, Influenza Prods completely outside the box. She participated as a guest disk emulators Skiantos, the spirochete Padua Pergoli Massimo Giacon, Bruno had a long and intense musical journey in electronic music-conceptual, changing over time various names, Flu, Bruno Two, Mana Erg etc.. This has re-upload the new graphics complete with libretto and lyrics. The pieces that I included on the CD are those that somehow feel more connected, even if you've ripped from their context, ie from their collections-concept in which complemented with other songs here that there are (and will be posted with complete collections below). Intense songs (for some perhaps heavy). From Changing Places collection, designed in 1981 together with the pieces, but engraved in 1984 are from the songs LAMP ONA-SHOWER, BAR DESIRE and, here in the "solo" is completely played and sung by me. With the exception of "ONA-shower" (which is the very first pieces to be recorded) the pieces were in the repertoire of the group "Inner Nail" with different execution (which will be posted later when you talk about the group). This collection was very dark-wave, very stretched and supported, and contained a cover with the Italian version of Echo & The Bunnymen (Show Of Strength).

From VERA C. (1985), the next job, are taken TUNNEL CRAZY CIRCUS. Even TUNNEL and Scherzo were in the repertoire Inner Nail (but only live and were not recorded by the group). This project (VERA C.) was very important to me because it was really well as a sort of "concept" an opportunity to work and record with different characters that belonged, honorably, on the Roman scene. Others supported me in live concerts. Francesco Baldi plays the violin in all the pieces and was a member of the group "Videozone. From the group "Illogical" Tonino was Amendola, singer, playing the melody on sax and CIRCUS. From these groups and others (Videozone, Illogical, Radio Eaters) were instead the musicians who kindly offered to accompany me live during the 1985 (since the dissolution of the trio I had not a group) in a non-existent group "Inner Nail" "mercenary" (Gigi Parravicini, Philip Travaglio, Anthony Arena, Carlo Fabiani, Sandra Biondo). Concerts at Clemson, Piper 80, Malafronte. Also on "VERA C." a different woman's voice in each piece (Marlène Sam TUNNEL Hermin a joke, Giovanna Gulinelli in Circus) and yet Jean Sylvain Brochu, classical guitarist, which also affected a very strange project a bit 'crazy and a little' experimental?! Brochu-CHIAPPONI '?! (1985), and that sounds indistinguishable carpet CIRCUS. On?! Brochu-CHIAPPONI '?! CIRCUS is inserted only version of classical guitar and that is a piece of him, something else: great! Also from?! Brochu-CHIAPPONI '?! Fairway is the penultimate piece guitar and voice in the library. The pieces of VERA C. production had the "musical" in the study of an unusual character, David Petrosino (who also sings in the fourth piece of "Vera C.", not included in this collection). The genre and influenced the sound of the previous period but enriched and sophisticated by the many contributions. autumn 1985, he formed the group LATOSEGRETO, along with Hermine (who had followed me in various configurations), Flavian Pizzardi Passage Four of the group (a group very stylish Japan) and Bruno De Angelis I mentioned before. The pieces that had been circulating for two years were collected and re-recorded with them in the collection "TWO WAY" (1986). Veil over his face, TROBADOUR, ADVENT, SENSE (present here but in the "test" made on me, I always liked best). Two-way marks a substantial shift to a generally more sophisticated and refined, somewhat decadent and D'Annunzio, with some quotes easy, jazz, early music and songwriting, and esoteric references (already present in previous work), all while remaining firmly planted in pop and rock. The experience ended LATOSEGRETO (more for my personal life story that because the group was wrong, in fact) in July 1986. Since the last footage of the group are taken to pieces engraved by himself and then solo in exuberant collection EGO (1987), the exuberant title track EGO, Running, BUTTERFLIES (here in the "test"), and note that marked a port (and back to me after 10 years) to the "song" pop, abandoning the "dark". In the next collection, UNIONS (1988), the last the period in question, I quote Brumaire (the song of the previous post), and ANDREJ VOBLICH, a song a bit 'vaguely epic poetry and a story that belonged to the previous period (1984), but I had not used.
Finally the song reflection in my version "test", a thoughtful and atmospheric piece that I've always liked, was a text Hermin for whom he composed the music, the song is always present in the concerts of our various groups from 1985-86 and on with a different arrangement (and sung by her) in the collection of solo Hermin "The image in the mirror."
In my songs there is always a personal story, that crosses the boundaries of the person. My life was becoming something else and told her about doing things around the interior like the exterior, mountains, clouds, sky, trees, cosmos, objects, people, etc.. I have listened long and carefully before you repost these songs as if they were not mine, to be sure they do not want abortions pouring out of the old and obsolete and to understand more deeply when I was dragging behind the remnants of no history and no right to exist . Are convinced that these songs still have much to give, and does not deserve to fall and / or remain in oblivion. NOTE

The pieces were recorded with a tape recorder Fostex 4-track cassette and have been digitally remixed. Some disorders that can not be eliminated, however, can mitigate and intelligent with a good equalizer. In the new link the pieces have been normalized, the tag was inserted and graphics complete the book. For those wishing to just use print-sided associating file names (eg "fr1a p01-36," means one-sided - Part A - pages 1 and 36, is joined to "Fr1b p02-35, one-sided - Part B - pages 2 and 35.
