Solitude And Beauty - Tapes 1981-86


I present this collection, with which I intend to bring a taste of my productions. In this case it is the "best" pieces of buildings from 81 to 86 years. Hard to tell in a short period that ihis was intense for me, a full immersion in the music and what it meant For me, music at that time. That is all. Life, strength and transgression. During this period, which lasted about 5 years the evolution was very fast. I came from a kind of rock sound, with acoustic guitar and / or piano . I felt the need to produce a more complete and wrote a sort of full-length album (which means it would have been obvious limitations of tape, at that time "demo-tape") which was entitled "Changing Places", 8 songs rather intense. A mix of electronic, punk, dark, rock and pop. When he was born to the group "Inner Nail" 3 of these pieces came into the repertoire of the group. The group is developing a musical more "obscure", a sort of garage-band, that instead of a garage used for a test .. "Attic", hence the name of this blog. This same loft and saw the developments after many alternate characters in that time Roman music, and other figures who lived on the border between music and other art forms, which were, painting, graphics, poetry or whatever. Shortly thereafter, and after the band split, Inner Nail, 84, realized "Vera C" as "Unforgettable Nail" to continue the work begun with the group but open myself to new experiences. It came a mini production of 4 pieces which was attended by musicians and non-Romans. After several interesting and bizarre collaborations on stage, where I continued to use the name "Inner Nail ", was born at the end of 1985 the group Latosegreto. From the album (still on demo-tape)" Double Sense "excerpts are taken. After the experience of this group, partly because of personal circumstances that forced me to put a stop, I was alone and recorded two collections, "Ego exuberant" and "Union." Most of the pieces were the last footage of Latosegreto live, never recorded with the group. The repertoire was much lighter and pop again in response to a physiological need to revert to a repertoire more "positive" and less "destructive", and work from scratch on the form "Song" from which, moreover, I started in the 70s. The evolution of my period are quite readable in this collection where they are cutting quite different approach repertoires, but nevertheless reflect my various natures, and I still hope that eventually put emphasis on the personalities who inspired them, that is mine. I must point out that you have always given priority to sing in Italian, to draw the first Italian music, but also to reconnect with the heavy, international productions (British, American, French) seamlessly, giving the music a language culturally open and not restricted.

Some comments on the songs:

FLASHES: A very important piece for me, a sort of rudder that pulled me in musical experiences of that period, although on balance I think I made things better. My goal was to make a piece in 7 / 8 but it was too square and linear. I think eventually I succeeded.

ONA-SHOWER: I liked a few pieces of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, and I thought of a piece very corrosive and distorted. The song is the shower a bit onanistic 'proud and suffered from a person who feels rejected and left.

DESIRE: a reflection on how difficult it is, in some cases and in a relationship, when you try to express a strong desire. It 'a piece that I feel very well not only in the text because it belongs to a musical composition vein my stop.

TUNNEL: the story of someone who can not get out of a situation (be it drugs or other fetishes, love itself may be). Musically, perhaps I was influenced by old sounds to Herb Alpert, along with the funky, to Simple Minds and the like. In short, a concoction.

BAR: The content is about the thought process of those who drink, and the question, you drink to reflect, meditate or to forget? The piece had to be a funky really obsessive. Still do not know if I have succeeded.

Troubadour: between Burt Bacharach and the old complaint of Fernet Branca. Choir sixty. Ambiguous situation in which you are a person with a head that makes us so, while it would be another table with what you are peeking ...

SENSE: evoking a bit 'Annunzio a whole and profoundly feminine sensuality. The environment from the very idea of \u200b\u200bbeing inside .... etc etc..

ADVENT: but here is the celebration of male beauty, a vision of ancestral folk, melancholic.

EGO rampant: a kind of bolero rock-pop. A farewell described with clarity and a controlled and severe desperation.

NOTES: a picture of solitude, from one window to another, the person who is only light the windows of the house opposite, hoping to steal a pair a few moments of love, as if seeing a movie. In fact, the couple said in a kind of fiction to the world and hidden in difficult times. Musically piece a bit 'to "Bette Davis Eyes."

BUTTERFLIES: consider, without immodesty, this song, a real poem. Cold Moon, but also delicate and comforting.

RUNNING: by abstracting story of the pilot that explodes with his race car, a metaphor for facing life with the madness of speed and live with the thrill of risk and the heightened sense of life and death. It could mean whatever you want to read.

Brumaire: the part in the initial idea was to represent the sea, and all the emotions that catalyzes. A kind of catharsis of grief, the greatness and the power lost horizon. A sea of \u200b\u200bautumn, so the name of the piece. Then the piece has become something else, but it often happens.

MIRROR IMAGE: The piece evoked some 'idea of \u200b\u200bMarianne Faithfull 60 (Morning Sun), and the productions of 4AD. A heartfelt definition of beauty.

NAVIGATION: a total lunar piece, in which the rush of passion and boiling are stylized and transformed into a cold atmosphere and nightlife.

ANDREJ VOBLICH: desire for freedom, to escape, to reject any tax. This is the story of Andrei, sometimes you need to get away from everything because the thing that does suffer most are just links. The music evokes something medieval but in a new-wave.
